Liverpool had to do business on deadline day, thankfully they did. The Reds had no option but to bring in reinforcements, thankfully they did. Well, thankfully for us. A club north of the border weren’t so happy. Neil Lennon has said it was a ‘blow’ that Liverpool signed Ben Davies ahead of Celtic.
Liverpool needed reinforcements
The Reds have had a turbulent season.
Jürgen Klopp has seen everyone of his centre backs ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
In October Virgil van Dijk ruptured his ACL.
In November Joe Gomez picked up a similar injury on England duty.

Whilst Joel Matip managed to put together a few games here and there he has also been ruled out for the season with an ankle problem.
The Reds desperately needed deadline day reinforcements.
Neil Lennon on Liverpool and Ben Davies
Deadline day saw Liverpool sign Ben Davies from Preston.
The 25-year-old centre back arrived in a £2m deal.
Scottish champions Celtic were thought to be pursuing the defender, looking at a pre-contract agreement or even bringing him in this month.
Sky Sports have quoted Neil Lennon his feelings about missing out, the Celtic boss said:
“It’s a blow because we were very close to doing that but obviously we got gazumped at the last minute by Liverpool.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool acted decisively to get Ben Davies, it looks like we needed to.
Celtic’s loss is the Reds’ gain.
We needed him desperately, we’re not sure how much of a difference the defender could’ve made to Celtic given the huge gap between themselves and Rangers.
