Liverpool failed with two bids for SC Braga defender David Carmo, according to reports. The Reds have searched far and wide today.
This comes from Fabrizio Romano. The journalist believes Liverpool tried to sign David Carmo on transfer deadline day.
They weren’t going to bring in both.
But it seems the Carmo situation never truly got going as Braga turned down two bids from Liverpool.

Liverpool will go with Kabak, it seems, and we can rule out Carmo arriving at Anfield. For now, at least.
What RTK has to say
A really interesting one. We’re unlikely to ever know which of the two Liverpool would truly prefer – they were always going to have to bid for both and go from there.
Carmo is an interesting prospect, though, and one linked with Liverpool before.
He’s massive, for one – 6ft 5 – and very highly-rated in Portugal. There would have been a lot to like.
But we also shouldn’t entirely rule this one out. The Kabak deal is only an option to buy – Liverpool could let him return to Schalke and move for Carmo again after the season.
Or they may head in a completely different direction. That’s the true beauty of that deal.
So going forward, we’ll have to focus on Kabak, who is an exciting prospect in his own right. Personally, we may have preferred Carmo to Kabak, though.
He’s a player who is a little more ‘on the up’, than Kabak. The Turkish defender hasn’t been in his best form this season – but then, no one at Schalke has been.
There should still be plenty to love about the deal, especially the short-term commitment. We’ll just have to see how it goes.
