Liverpool are in dire need of a defender. Jürgen Klopp has been forced into starting a centre midfielder alongside an academy prospect in recent weeks. We need a return to normality at the back. According to various reports, Liverpool are closing in on Ozan Kabak. Arsenal could be key to the signing.
There’s no defenders
Liverpool lost their starting centre back partnership for the season in the Autumn.
Virgil van Dijk ruptured his ACL in the Merseyside Derby and Joe Gomez picked up a similar injury on England duty.
Fabinho was dragged into the back four but he’s injured as well now, as is Joel Matip.
Ben Davies is on the verge of a move from Preston but we need more than one arrival.
Liverpool closing in on Ozan Kabak
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are closing in on a deal for Ozan Kabak.
The Reds are in dire need of a centre back and the 20-year-old has been linked with the Reds for eternity.
The deal would allegedly involve a £2m loan with an obligation to buy for £25m at the end of the season.
However, the transfer reportedly hinges on the Bundesliga side sourcing a replacement.
Arsenal key to transfer
According to Sky Sports, Arsenal could let Shkodran Mustafi join Schalke today.
The German defender was linked with the Reds this week but he could well help us land another centre back.
Should the Gunners allow Mustafi to join Schalke then they could well be triggering Ozan Kabak’s move to Liverpool.
