Liverpool won’t rule out a move for Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi, according to reports. That comes after claims the Reds are set to move in January.
This comes from the Telegraph. They say that Liverpool will try to sign someone in the next 72 hours.
This backs up a report from The Times that said injuries to Fabinho and Joel Matip had forced the Reds into the market.
But the Telegraph article includes some interesting details. They say that Liverpool have immediately dismissed links between the club and several centre-backs.

Just to name two.
But there was apparently one rumour Liverpool didn’t not rule out so quickly – Shkodran Mustafi.
The German could leave Arsenal imminently on a free transfer. His current deal expires in the summer but as he’s not playing, Mustafi could be free to join someone this month for nothing.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool may want to take advantage of that, then. They’d get an experienced international defender for nothing, who can fill a gap until the end of the season.
Not that it’s clear-cut – this is a fairly complicated decision. A short-term signing may be the best idea, though, given it wouldn’t affect their summer transfer plans.
But it does come with the obvious worry. Mustafi isn’t playing this season for a reason, after all. He’s just not very good.
Certainly not for what Arsenal want which, in terms of defence, is awfully close to what Liverpool want. Both teams play with high-lines that can isolate defenders.
Maybe Liverpool just fancy their chances of utilising Mustafi better, then. If he’s the one they want right now, let’s hope they’re right.
