Liam Millar made it back-to-back shining performances as he grabbed the match-winning goal on Tuesday evening. The Canadian is shining right now.
Charlton Athletic moved back into the League One Play-Off places thanks to a Liam Millar goal. The on-loan Liverpool youngster scored on 18 minutes, with his first for the club.
But it was an overall good game for the 21-year-old. Millar led the game in both shots and shots on target, playing from the left flank.
Interestingly, Millar also had the most touches for Charlton, despite that wide position. It suggests they’re happy to play through him – successfully, too.
Millar didn’t play any key passes but he was the only player to complete two dribbles in the game. Most encouraging of all – outside of the goal, of course – is how Millar performed in defence.
He managed four tackles, the second-most in the game. Amazingly, Millar also completed five interceptions – leading everyone on the pitch.
All of that while not being dribbled past once.
It makes it back-to-back games where Millar has impressed. He didn’t score against Swindon Town in his previous outing but picked up an assist.
Millar was far more of a creative force that time around. He created four chances for his teammates on top of two dribbles – both stats jointly led the game.
The Canadian picked up multiple tackles and assists in that one, too. Overall, Millar just looks like a remarkably well-rounded player.
What RTK has to say
We’re not sure Millar has a realistic future with Liverpool, as impressive as these stats are. The jump from League One to the top of the Premier League is just too great.
But it’s all encouraging for his future in the game and, from a Liverpool perspective, how much money he could command in a sale. Millar is a player who, seemingly, could seamlessly slot into a lot of teams.
There was reported interest in him over the summer, per the Liverpool Echo. And performances like these will only grow that further.
