Liverpool have pulled off some extraordinary pieces of business in recent years. The Reds have been buying low and selling high, using profits wisely. Few deals will go down in history as better than the one we struck in 2018. The deal is still paying dividends. New details have shown that Barcelona still owe Liverpool around £35m for Philippe Coutinho.
Liverpool sell Coutinho
Back in 2017 we saw one of the most lethal attacking forces we’ve ever seen at Anfield.
The Reds lined up with a front three of Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane with Philippe Coutinho just behind them.
It was a deadly quartet.
There was no hiding the fact that Barcelona wanted our Brazilian playmaker.

In January 2018 we sold Coutinho to the Catalan club for £142m.
Kopites weren’t even as upset as we thought we’d be. We got a ridiculous fee for him and spent the money on Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.
Barcelona owe Liverpool £35m
Everybody knows that Barca are in financial trouble.
The Catalans were free spending for too long and it has caught up with them.
According to Guillem Balague, the situation is worse than first feared.
The Spanish journalist has reported that Barcelona still owe Liverpool around £35m for Philippe Coutinho.
This is part of a larger transfer debt of around £175m.
What RTK has to say
Are we supposed to be surprised?
They’ve been acting out for years now!
What were Barcelona thinking? Seriously – what were they thinking buying all of those players and paying them all of that money?
It was a recipe for disaster, it is a miracle that they have avoided a financial reckoning for as long as they have.
Hopefully they pay up the Coutinho money and we can use the cash to sign a centre back.
