Liverpool got what they wanted ahead of the game with Tottenham Hotspur this week. The Reds will take every advantage they can get.

Liverpool face Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday in a huge game. The Reds haven’t won in five Premier League games, after all, and desperately need to turn their form around.

Standing in the way is Spurs, who happen to play the exact way Liverpool hate. Nearly every game they’ve suffered in across this run has been against a rigid, counter-attacking side.

Winning will be tough. With that in mind, Liverpool will take every advantage they can get. They got one on Monday, too.

Fresh legs

Spurs faced Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup on Monday. That’s certainly one Jose Mourinho saw as a comfortable win.

Why wouldn’t he? Spurs are several leagues above Wycombe. Mourinho put out a heavily rotated side, then, and rest his stars.

Only, Wycombe took the lead and the scores were level with five minutes to go. Mourinho had to throw on the fresh legs and they happened to be the stars.

Harry Kane played half an hour, Son Heung-Min played over 20 minutes, Tanguy Ndombele the same. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg played the entire second half.

This is a minor boost for Liverpool but it really is a help. Spurs’ stars didn’t get the night off and had to push until the end for a win.

They now get just two days off before hosting Liverpool. The Reds, of course, played on Sunday and get to rest for three days.

As Liverpool look to end their terrible form, they’ll take all of these little advantages that come their way. So we can certainly see this as Monday going in the Reds’ favour.

Will it translate into a result on Thursday? Liverpool will need a lot more than this to turn that form around. But it’s the helping hand they wanted.
