Three things we learned from Liverpool v Man United

Liverpool went to Manchester United with a point to prove and they well, kind of proved it. The Reds were better today. They still got a lot wrong but they were a lot better than we’ve seen in recent weeks. Here are three things we learned as Liverpool fell to defeat at Man United:

Centre back signing vital

Liverpool need a centre back. There’s no two ways about it.

The Reds would’ve won that game today with Joel Matip fit.

Well, Joel Matip is fit, we just can’t risk him being not fit on Thursday.

With Dayot Upamecano available for £37m in the summer, it is absolutely vital that the Reds invest in another defender.

Rhys Williams let us down time and again today but can you really blame the lad? He’s not ready for these games and that showed today.

One less worry

At a time when Liverpool are losing players to injuries left and right we have one less competition to worry about.

The Reds have been decimated by injuries and now we’re just hoping to secure Champions League football for next season.

Not having to worry about playing in the FA Cup going forward will come as some relief to Jürgen Klopp.

We can score

Liverpool can score goals.

The Reds have been without a goal in their last four Premier League games but they broke their duck against senior sides today.

Mo Salah netted an impressive brace.

This game showed that when teams actually play football we can score goals against them.

We struggle when teams decide not to play football. When teams decide to dig in and defend.

Fingers crossed more teams try and play football against us.
