Vinicius Jr would be an ideal arrival for Liverpool but would come with a big cost. There’s an opportunity to get him, according to reports.
OKDiario in Spain claims Real Madrid might sell Vinicius Jr. A further report even suggests they suspect Liverpool to want him.
And quite honestly, we’d expect that. Vinicius Jr is the kind of player Liverpool like – hasn’t quite cut it at the top level yet but has clear and enormous room for growth.
There is certainly a fantastic player in Vinicius, he just needs the right setup to draw it out of him.
And given the ages of Liverpool’s front-three, signing a relatively-experienced 20-year-old makes sense. Vinicius would be someone with the potential to replace the stars but without the necessity of playing him right away.
Real wanting to move him on allows for, potentially, a very good deal, too. Perhaps Liverpool wouldn’t need to give up too much to get him.
Maybe not as cheap as the £38m they paid to get him, but in that area, surely?
It’s all just too good to be true. Literally – there’s a huge catch here.
Sacrifice
That catch is the reason Real are looking to sell. They need money to sign their summer targets, principle of which is Kylian Mbappe.
It backs up a report from AS that claimed Real would sell players to meet Mbappe’s £135m asking price. If they don’t sell, they can’t afford him.
But this is a race that, per ESPN, Liverpool are also in. Mbappe ‘would be keen’ to join the Reds, even.

If Liverpool signed Vinicius Jr, though, they’d weaken their own position in that race and boost Real’s. The Spaniards would have more flexibility to spend, Liverpool would have less.
So while we’d love to see Vinicius at Liverpool, there’s potentially a sacrifice here. By all means, go for it if Mbappe appears destined for Real anyway.
Otherwise, steer clear and try to land the grand prize.
