Kylian Mbappe openly admits he could leave PSG this summer

Kylian Mbappe could leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, four years after joining PSG. Liverpool reportedly want the player.

Kylian Mbappe openly admits that he doesn’t know where his future is just yet. He explained as much in a post-match interview with Telefoot.

Mbappe explained that while he’s happy at PSG, he could leave, adding that if he ‘had the answer today [he’d] say it today’.

The player’s contract expires in 2022. It means this is the last year PSG could sell him to get money back on their £166m investment. They’re undoubtedly nervous about his decision, then.

Mbappe’s biggest problem, though, appears to be that he doesn’t want to sign a contract and then change his mind in a year. This will be his big year, then, as he decides his future.

Just about every team in the world would sign Mbappe, of course, but there appears to be a leading pair – Liverpool and Real Madrid.

ESPN recently explained the situation. They say that Real are a ‘dream’ for Mbappe but that ‘he would be keen’ on a move to Liverpool. Both need to prove they have the funds, however.

AS claims that the minimum price for Mbappe would be around £135m but he could cost far more than that. But if you can’t spend that, you’re out of the race, it seems.

Real hope to get there by selling quite a few players, according to both AS and OKDiario.

We’re not sure what Liverpool’s plan is but a further report from AS says the Reds ‘have the funds’ to make a move happen.

But all of this means nothing if Mbappe isn’t open to the idea of leaving PSG. Clearly, though, he is – he’s admitted it openly.

Both Liverpool and Real know they have a chance, then, in what promises to be the biggest transfer race of the year. Providing Mbappe doesn’t ultimately choose to stay, of course.
