'My god' 'Beautiful': Fans flood Van Dijk 'speedy recovery' tweet

Liverpool have had a rocky season. We should’ve known we were in for a wild ride from the moment we lost our talisman at the back. We’ve seen a parade of centre back partnerships in the big man’s absence but nobody can replace his presence. We are left dreaming of his return. Some fans have flooded a Virgil van Dijk tweet, in awe of his ‘speedy recovery’.

Liverpool lose Van Dijk

I still remember it as if it were yesterday. The day we lost Virg.

It was an October afternoon and the Reds were at Goodison Park.

The Blues had had a bright start to the season but we were determined to set the record straight.

Jürgen Klopp’s men dominated the opening exchanges and then it happened.

Virgil van Dijk was lunged at by Jordan Pickford. A horror tackle for the ages.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

The Dutchman ruptured his ACL in the incident and was subsequently ruled out for the season.

Absence and recovery

Since Virgil was ruled out we’ve also seen Joe Gomez sidelined by a similar injury.

As a result Fabinho and Joel Matip have been lining up at the back but the pair have had fitness issues of their own.

Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams have filled in when needed but there’s been an undoubted ripple effect throughout the team.

We’ve missed Van Dijk’s leadership as much as his passing range and defensive solidity.

The knock on effect of dragging Fabinho out of midfield has also stifled the side’s ability to pen opposition into their own half.

Thankfully, the Dutchman appears to be making great progress. Jürgen Klopp appears optimistic.

Virgil tweeted some photos of his recovery this week and fans are made up.

Fans ecstatic

Safe to say they’re excited.

Get him back in the squad.
