Fabrizio Romano has dismissed reports linking Divock Origi with Inter. It’s a move that could have hurt Liverpool this season.
Liverpool will not loan Divock Origi to Inter, according to Fabrizio Romano. The journalist, speaking on his ‘Here We Go’ podcast, dismissed reports.
Corriere Dello Sport made the initial link. They said that Inter could sign Origi this month on loan and that Liverpool were open to it.
But Romano says that’s not the case.
“Tonight I saw some rumours saying Origi was offered to Inter,” he said. “But there’s nothing in Origi for Inter.”
That’s that, then.
What RTK has to say
This is good news, as bad as Origi has been for Liverpool recently. It makes absolutely no sense to let the Belgian leave unless someone is coming in immediately.
We’ve seen first-hand how quickly injuries can limit you. And with Diogo Jota still not back, cutting numbers in attack would be strange.
Especially on a loan deal – Liverpool wouldn’t receive a sizeable transfer fee that could help replace Origi.
So we’re treating this as good news. Origi certainly needs to step up and perform for the first time in nearly two years, though.
We haven’t actually seen a sustained run of good performances since his goal in the Champions League final.
Still, the fact we’ve seen Origi do it before makes him a better option than the players behind him. We know very little about kids with no senior football, certainly.

Thus if Liverpool let Origi go and injuries hit again, they’re going to hurt.
A sale would feel different, though, if Liverpool got a decent price back. Origi does so little these days that it would be the Reds could use to easily improve the squad.
But as things are, we’re happy there’s nothing in this. It was hard to see how a loan to Inter would be of any benefit to Liverpool.
