Gary Neville doesn’t believe Liverpool have anything to worry about, despite their poor form. They have things under control, he says.
Liverpool are going through a rough patch. They’ve scored one goal in four, with nothing coming in their last three – the first time that’s happened in 16 years.
They looked particularly stuttering against Manchester United on Sunday. Despite getting into several decent positions, the final pass or shot never came.
Gary Neville, though, doesn’t believe Liverpool need to worry about their poor form.
“To me, I feel like it’s all under control at Liverpool,” he told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football. “They’ve played non-stop for three years and that fourth year is always the burnout year.
“It was for us [at Manchester United]. We won three leagues twice but we always, in that fourth year, dipped.
“I think that’s what we’re seeing this year with Liverpool – for three years, they’ve been unbelievable.
“I think Jurgen Klopp is challenging that front-three. He’s brought [Diogo] Jota in but Jota’s injured, so he could potentially give them a bit of a rest but he can’t.
“The two or three players underneath that front-three, [Xherdan] Shaqiri, [Takumi] Minamino and [Divock] Origi, are not good enough.
“The main problems for Liverpool are not the front-three.”
What RTK has to say
Yes and no, really. Neville is absolutely right that the biggest problem is the lack of depth right now, though.
Liverpool didn’t really suffer from that last season as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah performed all season. But right now it’s hurting the team.

Being able to call on Jota would help immensely – or any of the others if they were playing well enough. Although, that’s harsh on Shaqiri, would looked great against United.
But the front-three are an issue. They’re all approaching 30 and even if it is just poor form, they may not come out of that poor form before decline hits.
The long-term options aren’t there beyond Jota and Liverpool need to think about replacements after this season.
