Liverpool have been blessed with some extraordinary keepers in their time. We’ve seen the Flying Pig Tommy Lawrence, the wobbly knees of Bruce Grobbelaar, the shovel sized hands of Ray Clemence and the bullet kick of Pepe Reina. Our current keeper is one of the best of the lot. Andy Robertson has raved over Alisson Becker, saying he could play outfield if he wanted.

Liverpool and Alisson Becker
Before Alisson Becker arrived Liverpool were on the cusp of being a great team.
The Reds had just stormed their way to a Champions League final and were looking every inch a force to be reckoned with.
However, they was always a sure bet: Liverpool to win and both teams to score.
Alisson was signed from Roma just weeks after Loris Karius threw away the Champions League.
Whilst Virgil van Dijk had solved many of the Reds’ defensive problems, it was the arrival of Alisson which finally made us solid at the back.
Since then he’s established himself as one of the Reds’ greatest.
Andy Robertson on Alisson Becker
Being a defender for Liverpool at the moment must be a breeze.
Made a mistake? Don’t worry about it – Ali has you covered.
One defender has been raving over his goalie, Andy Robertson has heaped praise on Alisson Becker when picking him in his fantasy five-a-side team. Robbo told Jamie Carragher’s Greatest Game podcast:
“Goalkeeper, I think I’d have Alisson in because he’s good with his feet.
“He can play a bit in fives so I’d maybe even have him outfield, I could put Caoimhin [Kelleher] in goal and have Ali outfield.
“He’s a special goalkeeper. Him and Ederson, with Neuer have redefined ball playing goalkeepers. I don’t think it was a thing in the past, he could genuinely play outfield.
“In possession he’s very comfortable, he’s an unbelievable goalkeeper. More importantly an unbelievable shot stopper.
“You talk about speed and everything but he’s made some big saves for us since he’s signed. He’s just fantastic to play with.”
What RTK has to say
When I was younger we had Pepe Reina in goal and he was impassable for a while.
Thereafter we were a bit shaky in goal. Until Ali arrived.
Andy Robertson must be as grateful for Alisson as any Kopite around.
The Brazilian has brought success with him. Since his arrival we’ve become European, English and world champions. Long may he reign.
