Liverpool hope to get £5m from a Taiwo Awoniyi transfer, according to reports. The forward has never actually played for the Reds.
It seems Taiwo Awoniyi is on the transfer list at Liverpool. That’s according to 90min, anyway.
They say Liverpool would want to get around £5m for the player, with Celtic and Rangers both interested. In fact, there are Premier League clubs sniffing around, too.
What RTK has to say
It’s difficult to look at this as anything other than good for Liverpool – Awoniyi has never actually played for them, after all. Securing millions for him would be very good work.
And yet, we can’t help but feel it would be underselling. Awoniyi is in good form playing in the Bundesliga, for one.

He’s got five goals and an assist in his last nine games. Keep that up and £5m would be an absolute steal.
The suggestion Premier League clubs hold interest should drive that price up, too. When do top-flight English clubs ever do anything on the cheap?
Funnily enough, we recently thought about Awoniyi ourselves. Does he have a place at Liverpool?
If he really does keep up his good form, it might be enough for him to finally secure the work-permit that has long eluded him. And he feels like a natural replacement for Divock Origi.
But that’s pure speculation on our part. Liverpool may have far bigger plans than Awoniyi when it comes to introducing a new striker next season.
So we imagine he will move on – and he deserves it. The 23-year-old has been in limbo ever since signing for Liverpool, simply moving from club to club around Europe and applying for a work-permit.
It would be nice, then, to see him finally get a settled shot somewhere. On his current form, that shouldn’t be far off.
