Jose Enrique believes Andy Robertson is Liverpool’s Player of the Season so far. He hailed the Scot as the best left-back on the planet.
Where would we be without Andy Robertson? The 26-year-old has been ever-present in the Premier League this season.
And in an injury-hit campaign, that’s invaluable. Robertson is playing well, too – his five assists are Liverpool’s most and good enough for 5th-best in the Premier League.
None of this is a shock, of course. Robertson has been unbelievable over the last few years. He is, quite undoubtedly, the club’s best left-back since Alan Kennedy.
And Robertson certainly impressed another former Liverpool left-back in Jose Enrique. The Spaniard had great praise for Liverpool’s no.26 in an interview with Sky Sports.

Enrique on Robertson
“I’m telling you – for me, he’s been the best left-back in the world for the last few years,” said Enrique. “I know everyone talks about [Alphonso] Davies from Bayern Munich.
“But if you talk about consistency and level of performance all the time, this guy [Robertson] is unbelievable.
“Everyone has to remember that [Liverpool] play every three days. And this guy always gives you a good performance.
“So for me, at the moment, he’s the player of the season for Liverpool.”
What RTK has to say
Every Liverpool fan loves Robertson. How couldn’t they? Enrique has nailed why.
The Scot plays virtually every game and does it to incredibly high standards. Along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Robertson has effectively reinvented the full-back position into one of the most creative roles in the team.
When he does eventually retire, we’ll look back on him not just as a great player but as a trailblazer. Robertson would be the one breaking records for assists as a defender if Alexander-Arnold wasn’t pipping him by one every year.
So we agree with everything Enrique said, right down to the Player of the Season shout. In an injury-hit season, Robertson has been a shining light.
