Liverpool supporters will certainly be keeping close tabs on Manchester United’s selection options ahead of Sunday’s gargantuan encounter at Anfield.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provided a fitness update on Monday regarding a trio of United stars ahead of the top-of-the-table showdown.

Following the 1-0 win against Watford on Saturday, Solskjaer confirmed that Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof and Paul Pogba all missed the match through injury.

But looking ahead to the Burnley encounter on Tuesday night, Solskjaer revealed he expected the aforementioned trio to be back in time for the trip to Anfield.

Speaking with United’s official website, he said: “I hope so.

Bailey and Cavani available also

United also welcomed the return of Eric Bailey [£30 million] back to full training on Monday ahead of today’s encounter with Burnley.

The Ivory Coast international went off injured against Watford but has made a swift return to action.

United have a number of defensive issues to combat with Lindelof also in a race against time for Liverpool. Axel Tuanzebe, then, is a potential starter ahead of the Anfield trip.

The Red Devils also have the added complication of Harry Maguire being just one yellow card away from suspension. The United skipper has four bookings already this term, after all.

Edinson Cavani was also back with the team having served his three-match suspension. The Uruguayan could be braced to start against Burnley.

United travel to Turf Moor tonight for an 8:15pm kick-off knowing a win or a draw will take them temporarily above the Reds ahead of Sunday’s mouth-watering fixture at Anfield.
