Liverpool have to sign a centre back soon. The Reds are down to the bare bones in defence. In fact, they don’t even have the bare bones anymore. Jürgen Klopp is having to play two midfielders in the middle of the back four. The club are likely to address the issue at the end of the season. According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool can sign Dayot Upamecano for £38m in the summer.
Liverpool centre back-less
The Reds are currently without a fit senior centre back.
Virgil van Dijk was the first to go when he was snapped by Jordan Pickford in the Merseyside Derby.
A few weeks later a bad situation turned into a potentially unmanageable one when Joe Gomez suffered a serious knee problem in England training.
Since then Joel Matip has been in and out of the side with his own issues.

Jürgen Klopp has been urged to solve the issue by bringing in a centre back in January though it looks as if the Reds will move in the summer instead.
Liverpool can sign Dayot Upamecano
There have been dozens of defenders linked with an Anfield switch in recent weeks.
One man keeps cropping up as a potential target and Kopites are eager for him to arrive.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool can sign Dayot Upamecano in the summer for just £38m.
The journalist Tweeted that the defender is expected to leave Leipzig at the end of the season and his release clause is worth €42m.
What RTK has to say
If Liverpool sign Dayot Upamecano in the summer then our defence is sorted for the next decade.
The Frenchman would likely lineup alongside Virgil van Dijk and then Joe Gomez in future.
The Reds have managed to deal with our crisis so far but we can’t be as careless next season, particularly when we can’t bank on the long term fitness of Joe Gomez.
