Liverpool want RC Strasbourg’s Mohamed Simakan, according to reports. He’s a player who could be ideal for the Reds right now.
This comes from Telefoot journalist Julien Maynard. He claims that Liverpool watch the race for Mohamed Simakan closely.
And it’s quite a fierce race. Both RB Leipzig and AC Milan want the player and are close to agreements with Strasbourg.
Once they’re both there, it’ll simply come down to convincing the player.
Liverpool, though, sit on the sidelines. Will they step in and get involved? We don’t know. What we do know, however, is that Simakan looks like an ideal player for the Reds.

Fitting the bill
Liverpool need a centre-half for right now but, ideally, any incoming player would primarily be a long-term investment.
Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk will return, after all, and force a player to drop out of the side. Thus someone who could use the six months experience to grow would be ideal.
Simaka, at 20, clearly fits the bill there.
But at the same time, Simakan has senior experience in a top-five European league. He could step in right away, then, and do a job. Again, that’s ideal.
And overall, Simakan is the type of versatile player Liverpool love. He’s primarily a centre-half but has also played both right-back and defensive midfield this season.
Liverpool love players like that. They have several in their squad as it is – in fact, virtually everyone can play at least two roles.
But Simakan covering several positions also helps his own growth. He’s far more likely to get games if he can play three positions, after all.
Thus from all angles, the 20-year-old feels like a good investment. Sky Sports claimed this month that he’d cost around £18m – at that price, Liverpool may just step into the fray.
