Jadon Sancho started this season in poor form. Thankfully, he’s finally giving potential suitors a reason to be excited again.
We recently wrote how a period of poor Jadon Sancho form showed Liverpool’s difficult summer task. If the Reds want a young, new star forward, they’d have to take a risk.
Sancho wasn’t playing well but his price tag last summer was £108m, per the Guardian. Do you pay that for a player who didn’t play well the season prior?
He clearly has the talent but young players are volatile. Perhaps he never develops into the player everyone thought and peaks in his early years.
That’s the risk with signing players ahead of their prime. They could falter and never recover.

Liverpool reportedly liked Sancho for summer 2021. That’s what the Independent claimed back in October.
But his poor form looked a real problem. Heading into December, Sancho had zero Bundesliga goals and just two assists. Not £108m of value there.
Fortunately, Sancho is giving his potential suitors reasons to be excited again. He picked up one Bundesliga assist in December but January has seen a revival.
He’s grabbed a goal and assist in each of his last two games. Critical performances, too, given Borussia Dortmund won each by two goals.
This should put Liverpool’s mind at rest, if they truly do want the winger. The ability hasn’t faded, nor is Sancho about to collapse.
He’s still putting in decisive performances and, suddenly, his early season form looks like nothing to worry about.
If Liverpool want to revamp their attack and go big in the summer, this is fantastic news. Sancho is a real, genuine option and the more of those they have, the more likely Liverpool get what they need.
There’d have been real questions about signing Sancho if he’d gone to season without looking like a star. Those worries can be put to rest now, though.
