Liverpool need a centre back

The Reds being in dire need of a centre back is well known.

We started the season a man shy of how many defenders we were expected to have.

The decision backfired by November when both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez were ruled out with serious knee injuries.

We’ve since seen Joel Matip sidelined with Fabinho filling in alongside prospect Rhys Williams and recent write off Nat Phillips.

Liverpool linked with David Carmo

The Reds have been backed for January business but they’ve remained tight lipped about any plans.

Record in Portugal believes Liverpool want David Carmo from Braga.

The outlet has claimed that Leicester City are also interested in the young defender.

According to Record, the youngster has a release clause of €40m (£35.5m).

What RTK has to say

At 21-years-old, David Carmo is the right age for Liverpool.

However, £35m is a lot of money to spend on a defensive prospect.

Sven Botman appears to be a much more economical option for the Reds.

He would cost a fraction of the price of Carmo and he comes with a stronger CV having trained with Ajax and impressed in the French Ligue 1.
