Liverpool targeting Folarin Balogun

Arsenal are in something of a sticky patch at the moment.

The Gunners are struggling to put together a run of form and the club appears to be in a general state of disarray.

As a result it’s looking difficult to get players to commit their long term future.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool are considering a move for Folarin Balogun.

The 19-year-old academy forward has been prolific for the Gunners at youth level.

However, his contract is expiring in the summer and he is yet to sign an extension, meaning the Reds could sign him on a free at the end of the season.

Liverpool should target Gabriel Martinelli

Whilst Folarin Balogun offers a value option to the Reds, Liverpool would be better off pursuing his teammate Gabriel Martinelli.

The 19-year-old Brazilian has previously caught the eye of Jürgen Klopp.

Last season the teenager scored a brace in the League Cup at Anfield.

Speaking to the official club site after the game, the Liverpool manager described Gabriel Martinelli as ‘a talent of the century, an incredible striker’.

Kopites saw in that cup tie just how much potential the Brazilian has.

Given his finishing ability and defensive work rate he fits right into the clinical Liverpool front three.

The teenager is under contract until 2025 which makes him a much more expensive option but this is balanced by his limitless potential.

We could do with greater quality in depth up top. Folarin Balogun would likely be a repeat of the Dominic Solanke play; Martinelli would compete for a place.
