Liverpool can officially offer contracts to non-domestic players with expiring deals from January 1st. We pick out four of the most interesting possibilities. [Contract information per Transfermarkt]
All things considered, Depay is the best option on this list. He’s still only 26, has years of European experience across multiple leagues, and is just a wonderful player.
Depay consistently delivers goals and assists for Lyon – this season he has eight goals, four assists in 17 appearances.
Even the more obscure stats are good, though. For instance, Depay creates nearly three chances per game. That’s a fantastic amount that few can match.
If Depay truly can be got for nothing, Liverpool should offer him a contract right away.

Moving to Paris Saint-Germain earned Draxler money and trophies but it has sunk his reputation a little. He’s not quite the in-demand star of his Schalke 04 days.
Draxler is still a very good and versatile creative outlet, though. If Liverpool wanted to boost their squad for the next three or four years, they could do a lot worse.
He has big-club experience and knows the high-energy style from the German National Team. For free? Got to be worth a shot.
We don’t think Liverpool will get him, such is the demand. Alaba is an undoubted superstar but that means certain clubs will likely offer him a fortune.
The Reds don’t need Alaba enough to match such an offer. Still, they’ve got to sound him out.
The Austrian is good enough and versatile enough that Liverpool would be lucky to have him and should at least sound things out on January 1st.
Milik is completely out of favour at Napoli and sure to leave. He’s also a really great out-and-out striker when fit.
His 17 goals back in the 18/19 season proved that and he followed it up with another 11 despite not being a sure-fire starter.
If Liverpool would like a proven goalscorer in their squad to replace Divock Origi, here’s their cheap option. And at 26, they could get a few years out of him.
Bonus: Lionel Messi
Got to be worth a try.
