Being a Kopite this season has been a case of watching the game from behind the sofa, through your fingers, just hoping you won’t see another injury. It’s been torment. The Reds have lost most of the first team to injury this term. Thankfully Liverpool have appointed Dr Andreas Schlumberger to help combat the issue.
Liverpool appoint Dr Andreas Schlumberger
The Reds weren’t going to be on the back foot of this problem for long.
A hectic fixture list and plain bad luck have left the side with key players perpetually unfit.
As a result Liverpool have appointed Dr Andreas Schlumberger as head of recovery and performance.
The doctor arrives from Schalke in the Bundesliga and he will be focused on on-pitch recovery according to James Pearce.

Prior to his Anfield switch he has worked at Bayern Munich, Borussia Monchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund.
What RTK has to say
Jürgen Klopp must’ve had a hand in this one given that he worked with Schlumberger at Dortmund.
The doctor spent four seasons at Signal Iduna Park meaning he was there when the football was super intense, the real heavy metal stuff.
Hopefully he will have learned a thing or two working with Klopp there and he’ll be able to apply that knowledge to our matchstick superstars.
He certainly has a task on his hands given the fitness issues we’ve faced this season and the way games are stacking up this term.
Keeping our defence fit will be his magnum opus.
Twitter reacts to appointment
Of course, people want him to play himself.
Two players could do with some one-on-one sessions.
He may not be enough on his own.
How good is he?
He’s got a task on his hands.
