Liverpool have been incredibly unlucky with injuries this season but we aren’t the only ones. We’re just the worst hit. The December schedule has seen other sides pick up some injury issues. Ahead of this week’s tie, Liverpool could face a severely weakened Newcastle United.
Liverpool to face Newcastle United
There are some iconic fixtures in the Premier League.
Liverpool taking on Newcastle is up there with the most iconic.
The tie has seen some of the most entertaining matches in the division’s history.
One game stands out above the rest; the 1996 Anfield tie which saw Stan Collymore net a last minute winner to break the Magpies’ hearts.

We aren’t expecting this week’s fixture to be as close as those we’ve seen in the past given the sticky form the Geordies find themselves in.
Newcastle United injury list
Liverpool face a Newcastle side missing up to five first team stars.
The Magpies are without Allan Saint-Maximin and Jamaal Lascelles due to COVID-19.
Steve Bruce could also be without Jonjo Shelvey and Ryan Fraser due to muscle issues and fatigue.
Perhaps the most damning absentee could be Callum Wilson.
Bruce confirmed that the striker isn’t 100% at the minute and that is why he started on the bench against Manchester City.
What RTK has to say
Journeying to St James’ Park is always a potential banana skin.
However, Liverpool face a Newcastle United side without some key players and without their fans in the ground.
As long as the Reds can stay focused and determined then they shouldn’t have much trouble taking a vital three points back to Merseyside.
