Liverpool don’t often drop points at home. When Sam Allardyce comes to town we can’t help but be bored to death by the football he plays. Fair enough, it works. The Reds drew 1-1 with the Baggies this weekend. Thiago returning from injury helps Liverpool beat teams like West Brom.
Liverpool draw with West Brom
Liverpool could’ve gone well clear at the top of of the Premier League this weekend.
A home visit from West Brom should’ve been straightforward.
However, the Baggies recently sacked their manager and appointed Sam Allardyce.
As much as Big Sam’s football is grim it is effective. Very effective.
It isn’t pretty to watch, at all.
Like not at all, in the slightest, whatsoever.
The baggies came and set out not to lose, they succeeded.
This evening was one in which Thiago would’ve made the difference.
The Spaniard hasn’t been around since the October Merseyside Derby.
The midfielder arrived from Bayern Munich in the summer but he’s only played a game and a half.
One of the games he played was a tie at Goodison Park.
The ex-Bayern man has been absent since the Merseyside Derby after Richarlison lunged at him in the final minutes.
Liverpool failed to unpick the Baggies defence today.
If Thiago had played today we would’ve been able to pick that final ball.
This is why we bought the playmaker from Bayern but we’ve been unfortunate with his fitness.
Whilst Jordan Henderson can keep the ball moving, as can Gini Wijnaldum, we can’t account for Thiago’s ability to use the ball quickly and effectively.
The Merseyside Derby is evidence of why signing the ex-Bayern man was so essential. He’ll be back soon, no need to worry.
