Liverpool like the look of 19-year-old Arsenal talent Folarin Balogun, according to reports. The Reds face a nervous wait before trying to sign him, however.
This comes from the Athletic. They say that Liverpool are a ‘domestic admirer’ of Folarin Balogun.
The 19-year-old Arsenal striker has a contract that expires at the end of the season and no agreement on a new one. He can start discussing terms with non-domestic clubs as soon as January 1st.
And that is supposedly his preferred route, over a move to another Premier League club. The report, from David Ornstein, suggests Germany as a potential destination.
Balogun broke into Arsenal’s Europa League side to great effect this season. He hasn’t actually started a game, with just 61 minutes off the bench in that competition.

Yet Balogun has two goals and an assist in that hour of football. He’s a 19-year-old who appears capable of stepping up quickly, then.
The hope is that the teenager can translate his fantastic Premier League 2 form. Balogun scored 10 goals and picked up four assists in 15 games last season. He has another four goals in 10 games this season, too, switching between striker and left-wing.
What RTK has to say
Balogun fits the bill quite perfectly as a potential Liverpool player. He’s young, he’s got huge upside with his potential, and versatility.
His impact from the bench suggests he’d be simply to ease into the squad, too.
But Liverpool face a nervous wait if they want him. They can’t agree any terms until the season is over – effectively, the last month of his contract.
Non-domestic teams can offer him a deal in just one week, though. Liverpool would need to hope that he rejects everything in front of him just to wait for an English side, then.
It seems unlikely but it’s the only way he moves to Anfield.
