Liverpool Under 23s coach Gary O’Neil counters claims that Mohamed Salah is unhappy at Liverpool. The Egyptian appears to be fine.
Mohamed Salah might not be unhappy at Liverpool after all. That runs in counter to what we’ve heard, though.
Ex-Egypt international forward Mohamed Aboutrika claimed this week that Salah wasn’t enjoying his life on Merseyside anymore.
“I called Salah about his situation in Liverpool and he is upset, but that would never affect his performance on the field,” he told beIN SPORTS.
“I know that Salah is not happy in Liverpool, he told me the reasons why he is not happy but they are secrets and I cannot talk about it in public.

“One of the reasons that made Salah angry that he was not the captain against Midtjylland.”
Quick turnaround from ‘they are secrets’ to ‘here are one of the secrets’ there.
Aboutrika briefly played for the national team with Salah from 2011 to 2013 and clearly claims to have a line of contact.
But if he’s right and Salah isn’t happy, the Liverpool star isn’t showing it at the club.
“I’m keen to judge it on performances and the guy that came on for half an hour against Crystal Palace [Salah] doesn’t seem unhappy, for me,” said O’Neil.
“What I’m hearing about how hard he works in training and how bubbly he is around the ground, I don’t see it being an issue.”
He then went on to say: “What I hear about how he trains and how hard he works he definitely doesn’t give off the notion that he is unhappy.”
What RTK has to say
Who to believe? For us, it has to be O’Neil. He’s at the club and will, naturally, hear what’s going on.
Aboutrika, on the other hand, is a fairly random source. He’s Egyptian and did play with Salah at one point but that’s as far as it goes.
But as we said recently, Liverpool hold all the cards on this one. Even if Salah is upset, we’re not too worried about the situation just yet.
