Former Liverpool target Boubakary Soumare is available in January, according to reports. He’s also much, much cheaper than he was one year.
Boubakary Soumare may be a January option for several clubs, Liverpool included. That’s according to Foot Mercato.
They believe that Soumare is up for grabs next month and would cost around £18m – a significant price decrease.
Not that it’s any surprise. Lille are in financial trouble and have just changed ownership. Naturally, bigger clubs will turn predatory and see who they can prize from the Ligue 1 leaders.
Soumare may well be on that list.

Reports linked Liverpool with interest in the 21-year-old this year. Sport, for instance, claimed in April the Reds rivalled Real Madrid for his signature.
We had Le10Sport linking Liverpool and Soumare in January, too.
The big take-away from the reports is the price. Sport claimed that Soumare would cost around £36m – twice what Foot Mercato claim for January.
What RTK has to say
This one’s quite interesting. Soumare is a very promising young player at just 21.
Take his recent performance against Paris Saint-Germain. Soumare started in centre-midfield against the French champions in a 0-0 draw.
But his stats were quite outstanding against such a good side.
Soumare completed the most passes in the Lille team (39) and at a high completion rate (85 per cent). But he also completed the most dribbles of anyone in the game (4).
The best thing about that last stat is that he only attempted four, too – he picked his spots well and succeeded every time.
Defensively, too, he was fantastic. He was the only outfield Lille player to play over an hour and never get dribbled past once.
He won two out of two tackles and completed three interceptions.
Again, this is against PSG. It was a fantastic display from a 21-year-old.
Do we think Liverpool will move, then? Well, we don’t know how solid their interest was a year ago. If it was in any way legitimate, then you can imagine they’re having a good look in January.
£18m for all of this is just too good to pass up – if you have the space and money.
