Liverpool have pulled off some transfer coups since the arrival of FSG. Not all of our transfer coups have been incoming moves, we’ve also earned a reputation for squeezing buyers for every last penny. A clause we inserted in a deal a couple of years ago has begun to rear its head. According to Sport, Barcelona are ‘desperate’ to sell Philippe Coutinho in order to avoid paying Liverpool £18m.
The Coutinho deal
We thoroughly had Barcelona’s pants down with this one.
There was a time when Liverpool losing Philippe Coutinho felt like it would be a disaster of epic proportions.
He was the creative hub of the team; everything went through him.
He regularly popped up with unbelievable passes and long range stunners just in the nick of time.

In 2018 we sold him to Barcelona for a fee of £142m. Kopites weren’t happy about losing him but we couldn’t believe the money we’d gotten for him.
Barcelona ‘desperate’ to sell Coutinho
Michael Edwards is no slouch. He’s negotiated some ridiculous deals.
One of the clauses he inserted into the Philippe Coutinho deal is coming back to bite the Catalans.
According to Sport, Barcelona are desperate to sell Coutinho.
The Camp Nou club face having to pay Liverpool £18m if the Brazilian makes another ten appearances.
Given the financial strain the Spanish side is under, avoiding that payment could be vital.
What RTK has to say
Ah man.
Who’d have thought when that Coutinho deal went through that it would go down as one of our greatest ever transfer successes.
The money we raised has gone on to completely reshape the squad whilst Barcelona have found the money to be a total waste.
We really are tiers ahead in the transfer market.
