Who is Renato Sanches?

Now 23-years-old, Renato Sanches was once one of the brightest prospects in European football.

In fact the Portuguese star won the Golden Boy award in 2016, shortly after joining Bayern Munich from Benfica.

His switch to the Bundesliga evidently came too soon.

Sanches struggled to establish himself in Munich and found himself on loan at Swansea City at a point.

His Bayern nightmare came to an end when he joined Lille in 2019.

He has enjoyed great success in France. Last term he earned a WhoScored rating of 7.13 before the league was suspended.

Liverpool agree Renato Sanches fee

According to reports in Italy, Liverpool have agreed a fee for Renato Sanches.

Tuttomercato has claimed that the Reds have struck a deal with Lille and the player could move in January.

The outlet believes that the midfielder is valued at around £18m.

This news comes hot on the heels of claims that the French side are looking to raise funds soon as they find themselves in financial turmoil.

What RTK has to say

Liverpool agreeing a fee for Renato Sanches already seems quite unlikely.

If this was the case then we imagine more reputable sources would’ve been on the story by now.

If James Pearce et al haven’t commented at all then we can assume that this is just a newspaper taking a scattergun approach hoping that they hit the target.

Should the rumour come true then we expect that the 23-year-old would come as a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.
