Both players have more than held their own, Jones in particular has been a stand out performer of late.

Kevin Phillips on Curtis Jones

Speaking to Football Insider, ex-Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips was raving over Curtis Jones.

The retired forward also had praise for Rhys Williams. When asked if Jones could make the Euro 2021 squad, Phillips responded:

“When you are playing for Liverpool and playing as well as he is, there is always a possibility.

“I have said all along that Gareth Southgate is not afraid to pick the youngsters and Jones is one of a number of fantastic young players England. He is part of England’s exciting future

“He has been outstanding for them this season. Alan Shearer was raving to me about him and Rhys Williams and it speaks volumes for the players, the club and their development.

“If Jones continues to perform and plays regularly for Liverpool then he has every chance of breaking into that squad for next summer’s Euros.”

What RTK has to say

Kevin Phillips is spot on with his assessment of Curtis Jones.

The Scouser has every chance of making the Euro 2021 squad this summer.

He is one of the most in form midfielders in the division and he’s only going to keep getting better.

It would be a massive step for him but it’s one we’re confident he could make.
