Thiago injury

Liverpool signed Thiago over the summer and the Reds’ fanbase went into meltdown.

We’d spent all summer waiting for the move to come off, at a point we thought we’d got our hopes up for nothing.

Since joining we’ve only seen a game and a half from Thiago.

The Spaniard bossed Stamford Bridge just a couple of days after signing.

He then contracted COVID and was missing until the Merseyside Derby.

Of course, he also bossed the Merseyside Derby.

However, Richarlison scythed him down in the dying minutes and the midfielder has been absent since.

The injury was worse than first feared but the playmaker looks set to rejoin first team training this week.

Curtis Jones steps up and stands out

The injury crisis this season has seen a number of youngsters afforded more minutes than they could’ve hoped for before the campaign began.

Curtis Jones has been a first team regular this term in the absence of the likes of Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Scouser has shown just why the coaching staff have been so excited about him.

He has been dominating games of late, even collecting the Man of the Match award in a vital win over Spurs.

Curtis Jones and Thiago headache

Now that the Reds’ glamorous summer signing is edging closer to selection, the boss has a headache on his hands.

What does he do about Curtis Jones and Thiago?

The Scouser has been in undroppable form, the Spaniard is one of the world’s best in his position.

Before the season began many expected the midfield three to be Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Thiago.

Of course, Fabby has dropped into the defence, meaning that Gini Wijnaldum has once again made himself undroppable.

We can assume that Jordan Henderson’s spot in the side is safe. Does Curtis Jones drop out for Thiago? Does Gini?

Does Thiago have to play himself into contention?
