Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was back on Liverpool’s bench during the 1-1 draw against Fulham for the first time since July.
The Englishman came as a welcomed addition to a Liverpool squad that has been decimated to its core in recent weeks.
Here is a look at three reasons why Oxlade-Chamberlain should start this week against Tottenham Hotspur.

Rotation
The simplest reason is rotation. Oxlade-Chamberlain is fresh and Jurgen Klopp needs to sensibly manage a group of players who are currently dropping like flies.
Oxlade-Chamberlain will be highly motivated if he gets his chance, as he will want to earn more starting spots having not featured for the Reds since July.
Klopp’s hand could also be forced following the injury to Joel Matip on Sunday. Jordan Henderson was forced to cover in defence in his absence and may be called to do it again come Wednesday.

A more attacking approach
Klopp can utilise a more attacking approach during the top-of-the-table against Jose Mourinho. Similarly to Liverpool, Spurs have been beaten just once all season.
Tottenham have a strong away record, and are the only team remaining in the league yet to lose on the road. Liverpool need to approach this game going for all three points.
A combination of Wijnaldum, Henderson and Oxlade-Chamberlain would have the perfect blend of control and unpredictability.
It could take a moment of majic similar to Oxlade-Chamberlain’s stunner against Manchester City in January 2018 to break down a Spurs defence that has the best defensive record in the league.
There is no need for Klopp to go for a more conservative approach. Liverpool must be aggressive, and an early goal could catch the Lilywhites by surprise.

A very good record
Oxlade-Chamberlain has a strong record for Liverpool – he is still yet to lose a Premier League match for the Reds at Anfield.
Also he has an act for scoring goals in the big matches with his last home match for Liverpool coming during a 5-3 win against Chelsea. Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the all-important winning goal.
It must be pointed out he was an unused substitute during the 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage – but this also shows Liverpool’s strength, at it means there is quality also able to come off the bench if required.
