Liverpool get the boost they needed with the latest Premier League fixture plans. The Reds can see relief on the horizon.

The Premier League fixture list now creates a different January for Liverpool. It could even create a different season, in truth.

Five games have moved for TV commitments and they open up a period of relief for the Reds.

Liverpool now have a five-day break after playing Newcastle United on December 30th. The Southampton game on the 5th comes before a four-day break ahead of the FA Cup game with Aston Villa.

And best of all, there are now nine days between that game and January 17th game against Manchester United.

What RTK has to say

This is exactly what Liverpool need with this injury crisis. That’s not to say that they’ll suddenly have a bunch of players back for these games, though.

But the busy Christmas period will demand a lot of this Liverpool team. The depth just isn’t there anymore to handle game after game after game in quick succession.

We’re expecting a lot of tired legs as a result. But this new schedule creates really nice gaps between games.

It should be ideal relief to refresh legs over January, with players not needing to be go-go-go.

There won’t be a winter break like last year, after all. This is as good as it can possibly get – and things could have been so much worse.

It was only last month that Liverpool played three games in six days. This is, effectively, the opposite of that.

Exhausted players in January could have seriously unravelled any title challenge. Especially as the Champions League returns in February, offering little rest there.

This, then, really could be a pivotal outcome for the entire Liverpool season.
