9 reported Liverpool injury doubts ahead of Fulham and what to expect

Liverpool have nine reported injury doubts ahead of their meeting with Fulham on Sunday. Here’s what to expect from them all.

Liverpool have up to nine reported injury doubts for the Fulham clash this weekend. Here we see who might play and who might have to sit out.

Thiago, Xherdan Shaqiri and James Milner aren’t training, per the Mirror, and we can rule them out of this one.

There doesn’t appear to be any suggestion they’ll be back soon, either. It could well be 2021 before we see them. Although, there are so many games in December that perhaps Jurgen Klopp risks one or two at some point.

Also definitely out are Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez – but you knew that.

Wait and see

Jurgen Klopp says both Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota picked up ‘niggles’ against Midtjylland.

Now, we don’t expect Tsimikas to play regardless. He could potentially have come on as a substitute but we can’t see him being a starting option.

Jota, on the other hand, may have. His involvement from the start against Midtjylland suggests he wouldn’t but it’s Jota – Liverpool will always think about playing him right now.

Klopp says ‘we have to see’ on both. If we had to guess, we’d say that Liverpool won’t risk either ahead of the busy Christmas period – and that Tottenham Hotspur game next week.

One other wait-and-see is a surprise – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Klopp says the midfielder is in ‘normal training’ and could be ready.

But the boss isn’t yet sure if Sunday is the right moment. Fingers crossed on this one, then, but it sounds like he’ll make his first appearance of the season before long.

It sounds like Alisson Becker might be back for this one. Klopp said on Friday that the goalkeeper would train and if he got through it, he was ready.

That’s a very nice surprise as we were worried Alisson would miss the Spurs clash. But it seems he’ll certainly make that one, if not the game against Fulham.
