Rio Ferdinand believes the rest of the Premier League should worry after Liverpool beat Wolves 4-0. The Reds made something ‘look easy’.
Liverpool certainly impressed Rio Ferdinand with their performance against Wolves on Sunday. He feels their title rivals should be worried with what they saw.
“4-0 against a very, very good Wolves team – wow,” he told his YouTube channel. “Listen, Liverpool have had injuries. Three out of their first-choice back four are out injured.
“These boys are making it look easy. Like there’s nothing wrong. For me, that worries me if I’m another team vying for the league.”
What RTK has to say
He’s absolutely right. In fact, we said the same thing yesterday.
Liverpool have all these injuries – to key players, too – and yet they’ve quickly adapted to play at a very high level. It’s a dream situation, given the problems.
And they should get better, too. Liverpool still don’t have Thiago or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back, for instance. Both players will only improve the team and make things easier for Jurgen Klopp.
If we were a team challenging for the title, we’d be worried, too. Liverpool look like genuine title contenders once again and again – they’ll get better than this.
The big test will be against Tottenham Hotspur this month. It’s a huge game against the team that, right now, look like the biggest threat.
If Liverpool get through that with three points, then who will stop them? The Reds could then head into January and assess their defensive options. It’s a month where they could improve quite dramatically, with the right signing.
But even with what they’ve got, Liverpool look like true title contenders. And that’s quite miraculous, all things considered.
The rest should absolutely worry.
