Here’s our prediction for how FC Midtjylland vs Liverpool will go. The Reds face a unique game in their season with this one.
The backgroud
Liverpool come into this one of the back of a 4-0 win over Wolves. But more importantly, they beat Ajax 1-0 last week.
That means the Reds are already through in their UEFA Champions League group as champions. And with Midtjylland out, this game carries little value for either team.
In a busy month for Liverpool, using this as a rest feels vitally important.
The lineup
This is about the least predictable lineup of the season. Jurgen Klopp surely won’t risk any star players and will rest as many as he can ahead of Fulham at the weekend.
In truth, he could even play an entire youth team – although, we’d imagine some squad players will get games.
Perhaps, even, another run out for Trent Alexander-Arnold as he works his way back from injury.
Our threats
It’s almost impossible to say who or what our threats will be. We just don’t know who’s going to play.
We’re expecting players out there with much to prove, though. That could be where Liverpool’s threat lies – motivated players who have been waiting for a chance.
Their threats
Again, hard to say. They could well see this as an opportunity to hand serious experience to their players.
In that case, this could end up being their first-team against our kids. Their biggest threat with that would be simply being a better team.
They’ll likely have a team that is far more used to playing with one another than Liverpool’s, potentially giving them an advantage.
How will it go?
Yet again – hard to say. But no matter what, we imagine this will be a fairly choppy game. It will be a bit of a miracle if a young Liverpool team mixed with squad players is free-flowing.

But the right players with the right motivation and Liverpool should have too much quality for Midtjylland. It’ll just depend on who Klopp picks.
As for the football, it may not be the most exciting game of the season. There’s nothing riding on it, after all.
