Frank Lampard responded to Jurgen Klopp after the Liverpool boss backed Chelsea as title favourites. The Blues boss thinks he knows what Klopp is up to, however.
Jurgen Klopp claimed Chelsea and Frank Lampard were title favourites this week. He feels that the Blues have incredible squad depth which could carry them to glory this season.
Lampard, however, has his own thoughts on the matter and his comments suggest he doesn’t quite believe Klopp.
“I’m not sure anyone actually really went for it,” he said, per TeamTalk. “I think Liverpool and Manchester City seem to be pretty much everyone’s favourites, when they perform the way they have in the last three years, building up the squads they have over the last few years. Quite rightly so.
As for whether Klopp was just trying some mind games, Lampard had this to say.

“I don’t know, but he can have his opinion,” he said. “I think it’s pretty clear where we are.
We’re in good form at the moment, but as I keep saying we have players who have come in, some younger players and players that have just come into the Premier League.”
What RTK has to say
Here’s a rarity – we’ll back Lampard over Klopp on this one. Chelsea have so many unknowns in their squad right now that it’s hard to name them as favourites.
Liverpool, on the other hand, look to be getting to grips with their injuries at the back. The win over Wolves has a very promising performance in that regard.
If the Reds can get comfortable with the Joel Matip/Fabinho partnership, we’d back them as favourites.
And in truth, we’d back Tottenham Hotspur over Chelsea as a challenger. They’re playing fantastically well and Jose Mourinho knows how to win league titles as well as anyone.
In fact, they look like such obvious contenders that it’s easy to wonder if Klopp was just simply playing mind games with his Chelsea ‘prediction’.
No matter what, though, we still think Liverpool are the team to beat this year.
