Jurgen Klopp has explained how his usual front-three have reacted to Diogo Jota and his success. The 23-year-old is playing above all expectations.

No one could have seen Diogo Jota breaking into Liverpool’s front-three so quickly. But that’s exactly the situation.

The Portuguese forward exploded into the Anfield setup, scoring for fun and rivalling Liverpool’s established stars. And that’s no mean feat.

Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have brought the biggest trophies to Liverpool. They’ve been sensational and, undoubtedly, the best front-three in the world over the last few seasons.

And yet Jota has quickly pushed them all out of that comfort zone.

So how did they react to the situation? Jurgen Klopp explains all.

‘They all deal with it’

“Mo, Sadio and Bobby Firmino have no problem with competition and Diogo as well,” said Klopp, per the Mirror.

“So there is nothing bad in this situation for anyone, they all deal with it. They wouldn’t be who they are or where they are if they couldn’t deal with a situation like this.

“They are completely fine with it. And they are happy Jota has had that brilliant start as I am obviously.”

It’s a strange situation for everyone as there was no way Jota was supposed to be this good. He came in as a fantastic squad option who could grow into a first-team player – not someone who needs to start.

And yet, he’s thriving and outshining the others in a lot of ways. It’ll catch everyone off guard but, apparently, they’re handling it well.

What really works in their favour is that Jota can handle all three positions. If he was, say, simply a left-winger, then Mane would be forced from the flank and that would seriously upset things.

Instead, Klopp can shift Jota to wherever he needs him – which is usually because someone needs a rest of there’s an injury, these days.

It means Jota isn’t coming for anyone’s place. He’s just a natural fit alongside everyone and that, hopefully, will keep the harmonious feelings flowing.
