Liverpool made one of their biggest statement signings of recent times over the summer. The Reds brought in the Champions League winners’ best midfielder for a bargain fee. We were made up. The Reds could make an even bigger statement next summer. Real Madrid’s poor form could give Liverpool a boost in the race for Kylian Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe wonderkid

There are few more exciting young strikers in the world than Kylian Mbappe.

Until Erling Haaland burst onto the scene, Mbappe was the undisputed wonderkid of world football.

The 21-year-old Frenchman has netted nine goals and bagged five assists in just eight league appearances this season.

Last term he banged in 18 goals and registered seven assists in 20 league outings.

The season before he scored an unreal 33 in 29 league appearances.

Liverpool linked with Kylian Mbappe

Sport in Spain recently claimed that Liverpool are targeting Kylian Mbappe.

The outlet reported that the Reds are ‘willing to fight’ for the striker with PSG wanting £160m for the Frenchman.

Real Madrid are also cited as an interested party.

This is a rumour as old as time itself, there have also been claims that Jürgen Klopp tried to get Liverpool to sign Kylian Mbappe before he joined PSG.

Madrid form could give Liverpool boost

Real Madrid are thought to be the forerunners for the wonderkid’s signature.

The Spanish capital side have the money and the will to sign him.

They also have a France legend at the helm, we can’t blame Mbappe if he wants to play under Zinedine Zidane.

However, Real Madrid are currently in awful form and that could tip the scales in Liverpool’s favour.

The Galacticos’ manager may not be in a job much longer after a defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk has left Madrid staring down elimination from the Champions League.

Meanwhile Zizou’s side are seven points off the pace in the league.

Should Madrid continue to slide and continue to plunge into turmoil then Liverpool could well be the more enticing option for Kylian Mbappe.
