Liverpool are through to the Champions League knockout phase as group winners. The Reds beat Ajax 1-0 at Anfield to secure a place in the next round. The score line doesn’t tell the whole story, it was an open game full of chances. One man in particular has come in for high praise; Liverpool fans have been raving over Caoimhin Kelleher after his performance against Ajax.

Next week the Reds can rest their key stars against FC Midtjylland.
It is a nothing game, a friendly at best. Jürgen Klopp’s side will finish top of the group and the Danes bottom.
This is all down to the Reds’ convincing 1-0 win over Ajax, whilst 1-0 wins aren’t often convincing we can say that here.
The hosts dominated at Anfield in terms of chances created and fluidity of possession, for a 1-0 it was a very entertaining game.

It was Curtis Jones who bagged the decisive goal in the end but there were strong performances all round.
Caoimhin Kelleher stand out v Ajax
Alisson Becker was ruled out of proceedings on Tuesday night.
The Brazilian keeper was sidelined by a tight hamstring and the boss surprised us all with his selection of keeper.
Caoimhin Kelleher was given the nod against Ajax, whilst Adrian warmed the bench.
The Irishman was utterly outstanding. He was pulling off sharp saves and his distribution was precise.
It was a real statement performance from the young goalkeeper, one which will surely see him retain the number two spot.
