Liverpool have one of the most lethal attacking lines in football. The Reds front three have been tearing apart opposition defences for what feels like eternity now. One of the most crucial components of the trio has come in for some high praise. Speaking to Rousing the Kop, Emile Heskey was raving over Roberto Firmino.

Up and down season

This hasn’t been Roberto Firmino’s best season by any stretch of the imagination.

The Brazilian hasn’t really been amongst the goals and he has struggled to create as many chances as we’d expect from him.

However, he has turned things around to an extent in recent weeks.

We’ve seen him head home the game killing goal against Leicester City at Anfield and he recently put in a strong display at Brighton.

If it wasn’t for Mo Salah’s big toe we’d be talking about one of Bobby’s best assists in a Liverpool shirt.

Emile Heskey on Roberto Firmino

Ex-Liverpool star Emile Heskey has been raving over Roberto Firmino.

We caught up with the England icon for a chat about the Reds’ frustrating trip to Brighton.

Reviewing the game, Emile told us that we’re starting to see the best of Bobby again, saying that his goal against Leicester is a contributing factor:

“That goal would have definitely given him confidence, end of the day that’s what he’s there for.

“Again, he brings so much more and as Liverpool fans know, he brings so much more to the game but a goal will always help your confidence.

“I think that will have done massive wonders for him and we’re seeing the best of him now and hopefully he can take that into the next few games.”

What RTK has to say

Emile Heskey is right about Roberto Firmino, that goal will have made the world of difference.

Prior to heading one in against Leicester City he had been struggling for form and confidence.

At Brighton a lot more was coming off for him, his use of the ball was dangerous again.

Hopefully he’ll maintain this form in the coming weeks.
