Paul Glatzel says he’s devastated as he embarks on another injury rehabilitation process. The youngster has damaged his ankle ligaments.

Paul Glatzel is only just back from injury but now he’s out again. The 19-year-old went off last week during an U23s game after a knock to his ankle.

And it appears the knock damaged his ligaments. It means Glatzel is on the sidelines again.

The Scouser missed the entirety of last season with a serious knee injury and had only been back for three games. But he’s out again – a blow that leaves him ‘devastated’.

“As some of you may know, I damaged ligaments in my ankle in a game last Saturday,” he wrote on Instagram.

“This will means I will be out of action once again for a while and will also mean that I have to go through the injury rehab process again to get back fit and back to my best.

“As you can imagine, I am devastated but sadly it is part of the game and I know that I will get through this. I have been here before and will put all my focus and determination into being back on the pitch as quick as possible.

“Thank you for all the support. I will be back fitter and stronger than ever!”

What RTK has to say

It’s gutting for Glatzel. He’s a player Jurgen Klopp described as ‘sensational’ just days before the injury but he’s out once again.

Ironically, what makes this so devastating also works as a positive. Glatzel has been here before and while that’s terrible, he does know how to deal with a long-term injury.

That will hardly make him feel much better but it at least offers some encouragement. Otherwise, this is nothing short of awful.

Glatzel is a player with a very bright future – if that future actually shows itself. Setback after setback makes it impossible to realise your potential, no matter how high it is.

Hopefully, then, Glatzel can return from injury quickly and get back on course. We’ll be crossing our fingers for him.
