James Milner will pull off a superhuman feat to start against Brighton – if Jurgen Klopp picks him. The Liverpool midfielder can do it all.
Can James Milner pull of the superhuman? If anyone is capable of it at Liverpool, you’d probably pick Milner.
The 34-year-old surprises just about every time he takes to the field these days. Just last week, we were hurling praise at him for a performance against Leicester City.
Milner slotted in at right-back, a position he barely know. Far less than left-back, in fact, and that’s not his natural position, either.
But Milner still managed to pull of a ‘Trent Alexander-Arnold’ impression, as we called it. He bombed up and down the line, created the most chances, had the most touches, and was just fantastic from start to finish.
Then in midweek, Milner started again to face Atalanta at Anfield. Liverpool were pretty awful on the night, in truth, but Milner still covered everyone spectacularly well, all things considered.
Two games in three days, though, is a lot for a 34-year-old. Especially playing the full 90 in each and in two different positions.
But he couldn’t make it three, could he?
Liverpool’s injury crisis means Milner may well start against Brighton. In fact, Jurgen Klopp may ask him to revert to right-back once again.
That, in our opinion, is worthy of ‘superhuman’. Three games in six days, in two different positions, at 34? Simply incredible.
If Milner does pull that off, he deserves all the praise in world, quite frankly. It’s hard to know where Liverpool would be without him.
