'I want'; La Liga president openly wants Liverpool man in Spain

La Liga president Javier Tebas wants one Liverpool man, in particular, to head off to Spain. The Spaniard has his eyes on a few from the Premier League.

Javier Tebas isn’t shy about the people he wants plying their trade in his league. La Liga president picked out several, in fact, from the Premier League and one from Serie A.

“I want [Lionel] Messi in La Liga,” said Tebas, per AS. “Just as I want [Jose] Mourinho, [Pep] Guardiola, [Jurgen] Klopp, Cristiano [Ronaldo].

“All of those would help us grow.”

Klopp stands out from the bunch – he’s the only one who has never worked in La Liga. Messi is already there, of course, while Guardiola spent 20 years there as a player and manager.

Then Mourinho and Ronaldo both had successful spells with Real Madrid.

What RTK has to say

It is nice having a manager that is so highly-regarded that he made this list. But we’re not exactly worried – we’re not even sure where he’d go.

Klopp doesn’t really suit Barcelona or Real Madrid and if we had to guess as his next job, we’d say the German national team. That feels like the only natural fit after Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.

Not that Klopp is heading there soon, either. He recently brushed away rumours that it was happening.

And even then, Klopp has a contract until 2024 and there’s little to no chance that he’ll leave before then. We can’t imagine Liverpool would entertain the idea and we’re not sure Klopp would, either.

So Tebas can dream about prizing Klopp away from Liverpool and into La Liga but that’s all it will remain for the next three and a half years, at least.
