Injury crisis means chances

Liverpool have lost a host of first team players to injury in the past few weeks and months.

Virgil van Dijk is out for the season after he ruptured his ACL in the Merseyside Derby.

Whilst Joe Gomez is also likely to miss a majority of the campaign with a knee injury.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is a couple of weeks off a return with a calf problem and these injuries have afforded opportunities for the likes of Neco Williams, Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams.

Rhys Williams wonderkid

Since being afforded an opportunity in the first team Rhys Williams has done nothing but impress.

The 19-year-old has risen to every occasion he has been thrown in.

The teenager started at centre back against Atalanta home and away and held his own in both fixtures and whilst the Reds conceded two on Wednesday night we can’t point to Williams for either goal.

He was composed throughout the game and didn’t put a foot wrong.

The fact that he hasn’t looked out of his depth in these games is testament to his enormous potential.

He just continues to rise to the task, after emerging from nowhere.

The youngster was on loan at Kidderminster Harriers last season and now Rhys Williams is now one of England’s most promising youngsters.
