Liverpool went joint top on points this weekend after a convincing win over Leicester city. The Reds were in the driver’s seat throughout as they cruised past Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes. There were plenty of strong performances but plenty of Liverpool fans have singled out Curtis Jones for praise.
Liverpool in cruise control
It was a classic, professional Liverpool performance on Sunday night.
The Reds waltzed past Leicester City at Anfield, going ahead early through a Jonny Evans own goal.
Soon after Diogo Jota headed home a superlative Andy Robertson cross to double the hosts’ lead.
After halftime further chances were created with Sadio Mane denied by a consistently impressive Leicester keeper.
Roberto Firmino was denied by just 1cm before heading home from a corner shortly before the end.
Curtis Jones standout stand in
Liverpool had Curtis Jones as a stand in midfielder given the absence of Jordan Henderson.
The Scouser was thoroughly impressive. He was always looking to get on the ball and he was useful on it.
The 19-year-old certainly grew into the game, in the second half his passing and dribbling was incredibly sharp, creating chances and keeping the ball moving.
He more than deserves to keep his place in the side.
