Liverpool are now joint top of the Premier League after a comfortable victory over Leicester City. The Reds were in full control throughout the game, putting in a real champions performance at Anfield. Speaking after the game, Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg said he can’t see any outsiders challenging Liverpool for the Premier League title.
Liverpool top the league
The Reds are joint top of the league on points, behind Spurs on goal difference only.
A comfortable win over a recently impressive Leicester City side saw Liverpool jump into second place.
It was a trio of headers to win the game for the hosts at Anfield.
Jonny Evans headed into his own net, Diogo Jota nodded home a superlative Andy Robertson cross and James Milner found Roberto Firmino from a corner late on.
The win saw the Reds extend their unbeaten streak at home in the league to a club record 64 games.
Freddie Ljungberg on Liverpool
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Arsenal icon Freddie Ljungberg said he doesn’t see anyone challenging Liverpool for the Premier League title.
In light of Man City’s struggles, the Reds are only really matched at the top by Spurs, unsurprisingly the ex-Arsenal man doesn’t see the North London side staying the distance.
When asked if he sees any outsiders challenging Liverpool, the ex-Gunner said:
“An outsider? Unfortunately I think Liverpool are that good, for many years they’ve bought the right players that they need and they’ve built it for years and years to get where they are today.
“I’m not sure I see an outsider, [Liverpool] are too good for the other teams.”

As Patrice Evra pointed out, it’s not like Freddie Ljungberg was going to say Liverpool could be challenged by Spurs.
Given his history at Highbury, the pundit was never likely to tip his old team’s rivals for a title run.
However, his comments do shed light on just how the Reds are perceived at the moment – they are a relentless winning machine.
As long as we can get through to January, we may well run away with it again.
