Jurgen Klopp wants Thiago back playing for Liverpool. The Reds’ boss admits he’s just as ‘desperate’ as the fans to see the Spaniard.
We haven’t seen much of Thiago at Liverpool. The Spaniard was the most exciting of the summer – arguably anywhere – but has just 135 minutes under his belt since.
Liverpool paid £20m for Thiago to bring something different in midfield. Possession, technique, control – Liverpool didn’t have a player like that despite a wide array of midfield options.
And when Thiago has played, he’s look great. He ran the show against Chelsea and again against Everton. It’s just, that’s all we have.
Richarlison was sent off for a terrible tackle on Thiago late in the Merseyside derby and we haven’t seen the Spaniard since.

Everyone is desperate to see Thiago back playing then, including Jurgen Klopp.
“[His absence] is a consequence of the injury,” Klopp said, per the Echo. “It was a hit, a straight kick on his knee, so it is a consequence of the injury.
“People are desperate to see him? So am I, but I cannot change these things.”
What RTK has to say
We’re all desperate. Even more desperate than we usually would be, given the injury crisis. Liverpool could really do with a controlling midfielder who can take the pressure off with the ball.
Someone who can keep possession and pin teams back effortlessly. That would be really, really nice.
So we can’t imagine how infuriating it must be for Klopp. He signed Thiago for a purpose, needs that purpose more than ever, and can’t risk using him.
This isn’t even a case of Thiago being injury prone. He was out at first because he caught the virus. He’s now out because of a terrible tackle.
Hopefully, he’s back imminently. The busiest period of the season is coming up and Liverpool could really use Thiago.
